Why should I become a member of Artistic Roller Skating Ireland?

Artistic Roller Skating Ireland (ARSI) is the National Governing Body (NGB) which is responsible for regulating, developing and promoting the sport of artistic roller skating throughout the island of Ireland.

Our Vision – our key objectives are to increase participation at all levels, develop clearly identifiable pathways for artistic skating of all standards, maintain the required high performance standards, and promote Artistic Roller Skating throughout the island of Ireland, as a dynamic, lifelong sport which encourages healthy lifestyles for all ages. Anyone who wants to take part in the sport of artistic roller skating in Ireland should be a member of the sport’s governing body. Whether you want to be a recreational skater, a competitive skater, a judge or a coach you will need to be a member of ARSI to take part in any official events. How to become a member of Artistic Roller Skating Ireland (ARSI)

1. Club Member:

  • If you are part of a club, or are thinking of joining one, check if your club is affiliated with Artistic Roller Skating Ireland. If yes then your club can give you a membership form for you to register with ARSI.
  • Fill out the form and ask your coach to return it to ARSI on your behalf. You should include the relevant registration fee with this.
  • Once your membership has been processed you will receive a membership card from ARSI. This card will be required for entry to ARSI competitions and events.

2. Independent Member:

  • To become an independent member please contact the office for further information. While it is desirable that skaters are registered members of their local club it is recognised that the club network is in early stages of development and that there may be skaters who reside in parts of the country where a club has not yet been established. ARSI with you to support you in your skating goals and where relevant will explore the possibility of establishing a club in your area.
  • Once your membership has been processed you will receive a membership card from ARSI. This card will be required for entry to ARSI competitions and events.

Why is membership of your Governing Body important for both you and your sport?

  • Membership acts as a source of information – the number and geographical location of our membership base provides ARSI with valuable information, which is a key ingredient in developing strategies and initiatives to promote and develop our Sport throughout the country.
  • Membership allows you to identify with your sport both nationally and internationally – All artistic roller skating clubs register with their National Governing Body. We are the NGB for artistic roller skating in Ireland and we are affiliated to the International Federation of Inline Roller Sports (FIRS) and World Inline Figure Skating Association (WIFSA).
  • Membership gives you access to governance in the area of Child Protection – all members are protected by our Child Protection Policies and Garda vetting procedures (in ROI) which conform to the highest standards. The Association has a dedicated Child Protection & Vetting Officer. Affiliated clubs must have a child protection policy that is in keeping with best practice and legal requirements.
  • Membership directly helps with development of your sport – ARSI depends on membership fees to invest in your sport and support the activities and initiatives to promote the sport throughout the country.
  • Membership gives you access to competitions – all members are eligible to participate in all Artistic Roller Skating Ireland approved events.
  • Membership gives you access to training camps – affiliated members can attend Local and National Training Camps if they are selected by their respective Local/ National Coaches.
  • Membership gives you access to Artistic Roller Skating Ireland Information – we are committed to communicating relevant and timely information on all artistic roller skating related matters, such as previews and reviews of local and international competitions, events and initiatives, world skating news etc.
  • Membership gives you access to standards of good governance in the area of coach development and adherence to WIFSA rules and regulations. ARSI is responsible for regulating the sport of artistic roller skating in Ireland, and for ensuring that properly trained coaches are available. We will work with coaches to ensure that the WIFSA rules and regulations are strictly adhered to. Coaching courses are available to all affiliates.
  • Membership gives you access to advice and support – we are always on hand through our office to answer all your queries related to artistic roller skating matters.
